Hello! I told myself that I was going to be better about updating my blog, which has been pretty dusty except for giveaway posts. 😛 There haven’t been a lot of terribly exciting moments to share, and if you’re following me on Wattpad you know that I’ve been feeling… out of sorts, for lack of better phrasing. With that source of constant negativity removed from my life, I’ve been finding myself feeling more human and have been doing things that I enjoy during this downtime–including writing! 🙂
Through a series of coincidences, I was able to attend this year’s Amazing Hawaii Comic-Con for free with a media pass. I figured this would make for a fun blog about what I’ve been up to. (It’s also the only interesting thing I’ve done in months. lol) Initially, when I planned my outfit for the con, I was going to wear a Doctor Who-themed dress. But on the day of, I had a change of heart and wanted to represent Tapas in a small way by wearing their Tapamon pocket tee (pictured below in my Instagram post).
It was really cool walking around being able to see amazing creatives like cosplayer Jessica Nigri, voice actress Trina Nishimura, and so many others! I got to see William Shatner (my son is a big fan, so we paid for his autograph!) and I lurked on Alan Tudyk from a distance. (The line to see William Shatner was next to Alan Tudyk’s panel, so I had the opportunity to listen to him speak, as well as promote the game, Con Man.) lol
One of my favorite things to do at any con is to shop, especially because I love supporting small businesses. 🙂 (I love the stuff I buy, too, but finding a new small business to support is like finding a hidden treasure!) Unfortunately, some of my favorite businesses participated in the other comic-con that was held a month prior, so they weren’t at this one. But, it’s totally fine because my all-time favorite people were there! I’ve talked about them before on Twitter, so if you follow me there you might know who I’m talking about… Crappy Kids! Granted, they were only selling stickers instead of their expanded catalog of merchandise, but as they had been on hiatus for a bit I was glad to see them active again in any capacity. 😀 (Should I do a Crappy Kids giveaway in the future?)
I didn’t feel like there were many cosplayers this year (maybe I was looking in the wrong places), but the cosplays I saw were really awesome! Among the really great cosplays I saw were a Ghostbuster, a host from Ouran High School Host Club, and Deadpool (of course)! I didn’t get to take as many pictures as I would have liked, partially because of the crowds, but also because I was too shy to ask cosplayers for their pictures and busy shopping. (Hehe! Sorry!)
I think it would be amazing (Hehe, see what I did there? Sorry, I’m lame! lol 😂 ) to see companies like Tapas at a local comic-con in the near future. 😀 I always get excited when I find out one of the comic apps I use regularly is going to participate in some kind of event, but that excitement always turns to mild devastation when I realize I can’t attend so I can’t have any of their fun, free swag! 😭
Did anyone else go to a comic-con, or any convention, near them during the summer? I’d love to hear about what you guys did! Feel free to share in the comments. 😀

7 years agoI, for one, would LOVE to see a Crappy Kids giveaway!! They have the CUTEST stuff and I would die for a ‘notice me sempai’ sticker or even a ‘King andre’ sticker. But they’re all cute! HOW WILL I EVER CHOOSE???
